So far 2010 has been unpredictable in the Vancouver real estate market. We began the year where 2009 left off, with prices rising, inventory declining and buyers anxious to buy. Post-Olympics that was no longer the case. Suddenly the market was flooded with homes and buyers lost their motivation to buy.
We are in the midst of a strong buyer's market and have been for a few months. This is a great time to be looking for a home or investment as seller's are motivated and ownership costs are low with interest rates near a historic bottom. Meanwhile, sellers must price their homes competitively. We are no longer seeing homes selling in a matter of hours, line-ups at open houses or multiple offers driving selling prices over asking.
