On May 22nd, Vancouver city council voted to approve moving forward with the redesign of downtown’s Granville Street. September was yet another strong month for the Vancouver real estate market.
A typical single family detached home in Vancouver sold for $726,268, a rise of 12% over a year ago. Meanwhile, apartments in East Vancouver rose by 16% to $309,575. 2,776 sales were recorded by MLS, a 10.2% increase over a year ago.

The Greater Vancouver Regional District (an affiliation of 21 districts and municipalities in the Vancouver region) recently announced that it is revamping it’s image. The new name for this organization is Metro Vancouver.

This weekend is the annual Illuminares Lantern Festival at Trout Lake (John Hendry Park). It’s scheduled for Saturday, July 28th and begins at 7pm and culminates at 11pm with the fireworks. It will go forward despite the civic worker strike.
