In the Vancouver real estate statistics that I publish on this blog on a regular basis, I’ve been mentioning that the market has strengthened. On these pages, I’ve pointed out that a lot of the renewed activity in our market appears to be coming from first-time homebuyers.
Anecdotally, I am receiving calls and gaining clients that have been waiting for the right opportunity to enter into the market. In my experience, these first-time buyers are finding that this is an opportune time to make their first investment in Vancouver real estate. They appear to be motivated by extremely low (and likely still falling) interest rates, great selection, federal incentives and value priced real estate.
In discussing the market with colleagues, they are having the same experience. However, now there is a Vancouver real estate market study released by Re/Max that corroborates my observations. Is this the beginning of a recovery? Possibly…but doubtful. We’ll only know for certain about six months down the road.
