Office Activity – Vancouver Realtors Another Sign of Market Shift?

by Sebastian on April 22, 2009

Much has been said and written about how the Vancouver real estate market has changed over the past few months. It would appear as though the real estate market in Vancouver has found some new life. Evidence of this can be found just about everywhere, and much of this you’ve read about in this blog.

People appear to be confident once more in buying a home in Vancouver. The evidence can be seen in the hard facts of the MLS statistics. As you’ve read here we can see new listings under control, active listings relatively flat, and sales climbing.

We can also get the sense of the market from the media. The news media is no longer negative on the real estate market. The number of stories written and published over the last couple months about what a great time to buy this is are too many to mention. No more are they writing about the sky falling.

But there are other, less obvious signs as well. Today, when I came into the office I had a hard time finding a parking spot. In fact, there were none on the street outside the Royal LePage Westside office, and only one spot left in our underground garage.  Inside, our office is full of Vancouver realtors for the first time that I can remember in a very long time.

In a busy market, realtors will tend to come into their office more often (rather than take vacations or work from home). I wonder if today is simply a coincidence at our office, or if this could be another anecdotal sign of the strengthening of the Vancouver real estate market.

Please Donate

On June 22nd, 2009 I will be attempting to break the record for the most ascents of the Grouse Grind for charity. The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is an incredible organization which is there to help women and children suffering from domestic abuse. Of every dollar donated, 100% goes directly to those in need (Royal LePage covers all administrative costs of the charity).
